    Definitely go with an aftermarket parallel flow or even tubular type would be a huge improvement on the original serpentine type condenser. An electric fan is a must whether you mount a pusher to assist the engine driven one or a stand alone behind the radiator.

    To use the Sanden compressor you will need an adapter bracket to mount it to your OEM brackets.

    This is really great help, Thank you!! I really appreciate your input. This Nipponenso compressor sounds great. I could find that at a salvage. If only I can convert it to V-belt...I'll have to research that. I'm trying to keep as much of the Stallion looking original as I can.

    I'll have to say if it works in Georgia, It ought to work in the Humid Green Country part of Oklahoma. Our weather is pretty darn close to yours, from snow and ice to 100% humidity on 100+degF days.

    Which year of Taurus are we talking about on the blower motor? I looked up generation 2 and generation 3 and they are a different part number.

    Sixth 2010-x

    I'm probably describing stuff wrong. When I say "under dash" I'm talking about those that hang down almost entirely exposed under the lower dash. The Stallion's dealer A/C was behind/forward of the glovebox which I was calling a "(dealer) In dash" and it was an entirely seperate unit from the heater box.


    Did you use the Lincoln Mark 7 or find one close to the dimensions that you need? I have no experience looking for a universal condenser. I guess once again, I need to pester Radiator warehouse.


    I'm not afraid of building a bracket. I'm a decent to OK fabricator. And even though these compressors aren't anything close to the looks of the original York, I'm willing to live with that for some A/C.

    The blower motor is from a 2001 model. If you have the OEM Maverick motor and it works, that will be fine. I only run the Taurus motor on the 3 lower speeds because when I first turned it on high, it pulled all of the sealing foam out of the case and blew it in my face. Not to mention on high it pulls too much air too fast that the Maverick heater core and evaporator can't transfer the heat fast enough. There are more sources for the original type that work well so unless you want to fabricate a mount and modify the housing, I would just use a decent replacement.

    I used the largest universal replacement I could fit in there. There is an AC shop close by that was very helpful with suggestions so I acted on his recommendations. Same side inlet/outlet and when you mount it, make sure you put the compressor discharge line (larger of the 2) on the top. Fabricate some brackets and your good to go.

    The Nippendenso was used on a ton of vehicles in varying sizes with v-belts and serpentine type. Look at the compressor before you order one and make sure you get the one with individual line outlets. Mine has a manifold attachment and made it a little more difficult to source fittings for it. 86-88 or 89 Lincoln mark 7 had the individual as did some E series vans. (and the vans had v belts prior to the early 90's)

    The only reason I used the Nippendenso was because it fit on my brackets on the 5.0l with a serpentine system. The Sanden is a better choice for a v-belt arrangement (IMHO) since it bolts to the old factory Maverick brackets.

    I do not remember the number. I had a local hot rod shop do the work for me. It is a V-Belt. There is a bracket that mounts where the old compressor was, then the Sanden mounts to that bracket.

    Sanden compressors w/ Vbelt config is available thru Classic Air and probably most other am vendors. I have the Vbelt on my car. If ur going to a new modern unit might as well get it, like u want it - since u have to pay anyway.
    I suggest calling the folks that deal w/ this stuff; they can supply u w/ the proper info on the parts u need. They have real deal info. If u chose to buy frm them fine - If not, buy frm somewhere else. But u will have the info ur looking for.

    That seems to be a fair price for a system. I'll have to check that out. You also brought up another point of complication, the controls for an aftermarket system...

    Florida also has a pretty humid and warm climate similar to northeastern Oklahoma. So 6 satisfied customers is a good testament to that unit.


    That is ingeneous. Although the occasional back passengers I have wouldn' t appreciate the lack of that center outlet. It seems to be the better supplier of air to the back.


    Good call, I'll plan on pumping them for info.

    That VTA kit from Summit is pretty cheap, but it comes with nothing.

    Wow. I'm seeing that. Then if you buy their suggested condenser at 139 and drier at 94, wow, total of 702.91. This kit starts getting expensive and you still don't have a compressor or hoses.
    I'm sure that I can find a cheaper condenser and much cheaper universal drier though.

    So far what I'm learining:

    No matter what your unit is:

    #1 Install electric fan, either to assist or replace factory cooling fan.

    #2 Use a newer style compressor, Sanden or Nipendenso.

    #3 Use the largest possible aftermarket condenser, either Parallel flow or tubular. Any suggestions here? I guess I need to find the specs on both and see what's available.
