First time in almost a year!!! Just put a couple miles on it and ran it around 3500 rpms to try to burn off the rest of the header paint. Also got quotes on exhaust installation and alignment, so will hopefully get those done sometime this week.
I will try to keep it together until the next meet in July. I promise to bring it by and finally let everyone see it!
Nasty dangerous, right now. I just centered the bolts in the alignment holes, and it is VERY loose, too much camber, not enough caster, or is it the other way around? Wheels look like this /--\ and don't return to center when I let off the wheel. And the toe is off enough that I have the steering wheel turned to the left to about 8 o'clock while going straight. But it steers very easily, no slop or play. I did not want to drive it too much and ruin a good pair of tires. Everything held up enough that I am sure it is safe to drive to town for alignment and exhaust. I got it up to around 50 mph and decided that was plenty fast with the alignment that far off spec. I think the paint is finally burned off the headers, though, so that is good.
Just to not let you get scared off...It doesn't really take a year to do the front end swap. I just had a cancer then a death in the family, another illness and a month-long coma with another family member, a death of another family member, sold a home, moved, remodeled another home, and then there was 3 or 4 months of miserable hot summer where I did not even touch the car. If not for the past horrible year and all of those distractions, I could have done this entire project in a couple weeks, a month tops.
You have too much negative camber and caster... Negative caster gives a numb feeling, easy to steer, won't return to center... If you play with the adjustments to get them closer, recheck toe as it can be effected by the other adjustments...
whenever you finally get it completed and find that hatcam.. remember that youtube videos speak a thousand words. which inevitably means much shorter posts from the likes of me.
