    :Welcome:
Wish I knew for sure. It sounds like maybe a valve in the steering assist unit is stuck or something.. Someone who knows about this may chime in soon .

Did you do anything to it? Usually when people replace the small hoses, and cross them, it'll do that.

All the suggestions are good, but assuming someone hasn't been diddling with it, a stuck valve inside the control unit is most likely...

Should bee easy enough to examine the end cap and hoses to see if someone has been working on those...

    thanks

thanks to all for the info. I just bought this little jewel yesterday and had to drive it about 200 miles with the crazy pulling and no heat in 5 degree weather!

I really don't know if the guy I bought her from had done anything to her.

is there anyone who knows which lines go where to the power assist?
    thanks for the great welcome

not a lot of Mavericks out here in IOWA

The upper port on the valve goes to upper cylinder port, and lower to lower...

    BTW welcome...

    EDIT

Kinda hard to see in this pict but upper on valve is at 45* angle...

There is a grease fitting on the valve. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot! Hand grease gun only!!! I hope it warms up for you! I struggle when it goes below 50°! :)

    p.s. hose routing

    thanks,
i got the valve off today and it is junk ordered a reman, whoever had this before did a little cobbling with the power steering hoses had them rigged with connectors.
Does anyone know where the pressure and return lines from the pump connect to the control valve? just want to be sure he did not cross the lines when he added all these connectors
    thanks folks
