Paint looks great. There's nothing special about a stock Maverick. I'd modify the hell out of it (but tastefully and intelligently). Put the scoop on. You should black out the headlight bezels too.
Speak for yourself, in New England there is something very special about a 43 year old car that manages to survive!
Haha good point. Everytime I see a "solid rust free" car for sale in the NE US I have to wonder. I really like the color btw. I miss my old plaid interior but time wasn't nice to it. I ended up going with high back buckets and Mustang replacement covers. Then had an upholstery shop recover the rear seat to match.
Finished Paint Kudos Rick: Tastefully done .. the stance, color , air dam .. it all works very well together.. I like the Blue. Cometized
If you have the option.. I say tailor the car to what.. YOU.. want and enjoy. Sleeper or Scorcher? The way I see this cars build from first impression is that it is trying to relay that it's got a performance attitude. That's what black side stripes are for, right? IMO, the blacked out grill/tail light treatments pull the side stripes into one cohesive package. I personally think that the Cyclone/Comet/Cougar scoop is one of the best designs ever put on any muscle car. Helps make that aggressive statement that it goes as good as it looks. Either way you go.. there are certainly plenty of solid looking examples on both sides of the fence.
its a beautiful car as is just redo the interior and enjoy here for another 40 years at first I thought the hood was missing something like a nice black carbon fiber hood but then I looked at the car differently. I saw it as a really nice classic in any part of the world. you just dont see cars CLEAN AND ORIGINAL much these days dont do anything to her. give her new original upholstery so she can feel like she did when she was new. shes a true classic just unnoticed for most of her life and this coming from a hotrod everything guy
That car is a cherry .... very nice. I would be inclined to do the black grille, headlight rings, and hood panel paint. I really like the painted wheels and dog dish caps. If anyone repops the original small white letter Goodyear Polyglas GT tires (Coker, maybe?), adding them would make that car "period perfect". The plaid interior adds to that aura, too. The car really does pull off a "time capsule" look. I would run with that as much as possible. Sometimes less really is more ....
