Are the small hubcaps (used with trim rings) interchangeable between 14 and 15 inch rims? I have 4 lug 14 inch wheels. I am looking at some ebay caps that are listed for 15 inch wheels. They look identical (stainless, black trim ring and say ford motor company) to mine, just nicer. Thanks, Peyton in SE Ohio
I definitely don't know it all but I don't recall seeing any of these in different sizes. I probably have about 12 of them myself right now and every one I have ever had was all the same size. I'm not sure if they would be a different size for 15's or not. I can't even say I remember seeing any of these on a 15" wheel. Wish I could be of more help but maybe someone will know for sure.
The ones for the 5 on 5 1/2 (truck) 15 inch wheels are slightly bigger. but I don`t know about the 5 on 4 1/2 , 15 inch wheels ?
Those are all alike EXCEPT the truck caps, they're taller to clear the hub on the trucks. Now some of the mav caps are different, the caps on the early 13" wheels look like the ones used later, but they are smaller in diameter so they won't fit 14-15" wheels. The ones you have will work on 15" or 14"-I ran some on an old '70 LTD w/black 15"s and white letter tires. Can you say redneck? I did back then!
Ask for the measurement of the inside diameter of the cap and then check the measurement of the part of the your rim that it fits over. I have the caps that fit my 14 inch rims and they don't fit the 15 inch rims I have. I don't know if my rims are factory though. The fit may depend on the rim you have. Sounds like it probably will fit, but to check for sure get the measurements. -Erick
hope this clears this up for you... i know i don't know but if i was going to "guess" i would... definitely... say " maybe " ...frank... p.s. if you do get.."them".. and if.."they".. fit or not let.."us".. know .
Some of the 15" wheels from about '87 up(crown vics, town cars, etc)take a larger cap, like the '73-78 big fords that had the chevy truck bolt pattern. Some of these wheels don't even have the little "nubs" around the outside for a cap!I found this out after buying some '96 cop car wheels for my old '72 LTD;thought I'd put on the poverty caps, but they didn't fit.
Well, I passed on that set on ebay because they went for like $55, not that they weren't worth it, just because I'm cheap and on a budget. Oh well. Thanks for the info.
If you need some for 14" wheels I can fix you up. I'll let them go for about $5 each plus shipping. I would imagine shipping to be no more than $10-12 pretty much anywhere in the U.S. Just let me know if you're interested.
Well, I did get a "set" of nine off ebay. 7 stainless and 2 painted steel. They are all in excellant shape. Part # for stainless is D5BA-1130-BA (could be II30)and looks to have a date code of 9-12-80. The two (truck) steelies are D3TA-II30-H AND ARE DATED 2-25-82. The truck caps are about 3/4 inch deeper than the stainless ones but the do fit my 14 inch 4 lug wheels also, so they are the same diameter. Peyton
I didn't read all the posts, so forgive if I am repeating... The flat caps are just over 10" and fit the 'lumps' on the rim. The caps are all the same diameter, so the determining factor on fitment is weither or not your rim has the 'lumps' with a 10" spacing. My 90 F150 has a 15" spare with a plain rim and my Maverick flat caps fit it... I had to try So, there are not different size caps for different rims... it all depends if your rim has provisions to hold that cap, no matter the rim diameter. Good luck Dave
