I couldn't decide if this should go here or the parts interchange forum. I see alot of discussion on the 200 and 250 I6's, but none what so ever about the 300 I6. Will a 300 fit in a car that had a 200/250 without modification? The engine is currently in a 1978 Econoline 150 van and runs pretty decent. Kinda early to be asking since I don't have a car yet, but every Maverick I have looked at so far has a Inline 6, and the running condtion is unknown on all of them, and I already have this running 300 just in case. Something to get me by until I can save up for a V8. Thanks
Maybe I'm missing something here? After running a search, is there an actual physical size diffrence between a 300 and a 250? I read another post where they refered to the 300 as a big block. Thanks for answering my somewhat stupid questions. I know basically nothing about the I6 engines other then everyone I have ever talked to says they are almost indistructable.
The 300 is bigger, longer, and heavier than the 250. It has been done before but it will take some modifying to get it in there.
Here is a great I6 forum for ya to look at www.fordsix.com . Just some things off the top of my head . You will need to make the motor mounts , you`ll need a V8 rad ,a 250/sbf bellhousing (unless you want to make more work for you`r self by making the C6 work) , you`ll prolly need to make some of the carb linkage. Oh yea , don`t forget about the exhaust.
There are no "stupid" questions. Ask lots and often. Research and learn. No one knows everything but everyone knows something. The 300 is probley not worth the trouble into a Mav.,
