i was wondering how big a difference is the 302 vs the 300i6. I was going to swap a 200i6 for a 302 but can't get it to fit no matter what i cut out. What is the hp/torque specs on a 300. any help or anything on the 300 would be a help.
hmmm , 302 wont fit i will have to say thats a first, 302 came factory in maverick should fit like a glove , this should be a extremly easy swap, 300 is a truck engine way bigger than that 200 longer taller everything, alot of custom work for that 300, do a seach on here about 6 to 8 swap , but a 302 you shouldnt have any trouble at all, less headers and thats not to bad , are sure you have a 302 do you have pics or anything like that?? my 300 in my truck is like 130hp 290torque i think thats about right a stout 302 will get a 250hp and 300tq just my .02 eddie
the 302 bolts right in, i'm not sure what you having to cut, but i put mine in yestoday in couple hours, didn't have to cut anything, hardest part was putting the motor mount bolts in, headers on other hand... all you need is the v8 frame mounts and the double hump tranny crossmember
motor should fit right in if you have the right motor mounts. you did change them from the 6 mounts didn't you? 351 will be a little tighter, but it will fit also. gonna have to do a lot of modifying for the 300.
I do not think the 300 will fit without a lot of work....I would put the 302 in it...not that difficult and (if your looking for muscle) you will be much happier with the v8. IMO
yes, much! however i think we all are (well i am) interested in what problems are you having with the 302 whats it hitting , give us a disciption , we can help you its proly just something simple, but yes if you want to keep 200 thats straight forward far as a rebuild , not to many performance parts , i think there might be cam out for it, but not to much eddie
it will take tons of work i believe, i measured my 300 in my truck the other day and compared to my maverick just for the hellO of it , cause i seen a post while back about it, that thing is way long tall , im not saying it cant be done but... you could prolly go 460 with the money you put in your 300, once agian just my
You can check out www.classicinlines.com for alot of performance products for the Ford sixes. Of course, as previously mentioned, it will take some money.
I like the old 300s. I have two F150s - one with a 300 and the other with a 302. They're both newer FI motors and the 300 works and pulls much better. It's got alot more low end torque. But, for gas mileage, the 302 gets a couple more a gallon. It would be interesting to see a 300 in a Maverick, if it would fit.
Mavmandan, I did the 200 to 302 swap about 12 years ago in my grabber. I pulled the saddle and motor mounts out of the donor 73 Comet 4door along with the 302. It fit like a glove. Like Mr. Graham, I am wondering if you have the correct mounts installed. Take a pic of the problem area (Unless you are like me, Electronically challenged) or tell us what its hitting on. Perhaps we can help. The 302 is twice the motor and actually gets pretty good mileage if you keep your foot out of it. (At least thats what I tell my wife)!! thanks Jerryfow2
thats what i asked, some pics or tell us something no matter what it is im sure someone on here has been though it , someone will help you, im not sure but i think he gave up , i see hes selling a 302 and aod-e, but plz mavmandan dont give up , i know it can be frustraiting, go find a windsor and some headers try to put them together now thats frustraiting but dont give up eddie
If you notice in his info his maverick is a 1970 model. This is probley where he is having his troubles because of the 70's narrow transmission tunnel.
