The vintage Mustang vendors sell a chrome hi-po style air cleaner for a 1V carb. I want one but I'd like to know for sure if it clears a MAverick hood first.

After re-reading the adds again, it appears that these fit the Autolight 1V. Probably will not fit Carters.
If you have a carb like the one pictured here it will not fit without modification. I purchased one of those years ago from mustangs unlimited but it would not clear the electric choke housing. So I cut a hole in the base to fit around the choke and then it fit nice. This on a 250 motor. I still have it laying around the garage as I am no longer running that carb.
That hose use to go to a spot on the original air cleaner but the new one did not have a spot for it. I just eliminated the hose and put a breather in its place.
Yeah I'm doing same on my Comet and using a 1967 style cap that twists on but has no hose connection...
I bought the Scott Drake air cleaner the other day. I had to open up the hole with a Dremel about 3/8" to get it to fit a Carter RBS. I bought an aftermarket oil filler cap that eliminated the hose. The hood clears the shallow base breather. I still need to get the charcoal canister hose attached on the base. Thinking about using the same adapter off the original breather but I will need a 1 or 2" longer hose to get from point A to point B or use some type of 90* fitting.
