    Greetings everyone,
New member here but have lurked on and off since picking up a 1963 Comet S-22 Convertible last Spring. Lots of great info on this site so I’m hopeful for some help with a NSS issue I’m having.
Car has been finicky on starting for awhile and I’ve been successful previously by slightly adjusting the position of the exterior part of the NSS with the wire harnesses for NSS and reverse lights (this car has them - a cool design feature and space age rocketry looking highlight when “ignited”). I’ve been down the road of playing with the shifter but there doesn’t seem to be any significant sloppiness in the shifter assembly. I’m pretty sure that the problem is coming from the plastic electrical contact sleeve that is clipped into the inner shift column. It looks like the metallic (brass?) contact lines are worn and no longer completing the circuit to allow juice to the starter. Anyone know if these shift column contact sleeves are still available anywhere. I’ve searched but have been unable to find them or a part number. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for this information. I tried to post photos last night but was unable to select them to be included in the post after what I thought was uploading them. Will try again after work. The history of these cars (from the Edsel drawing boards etc.) is very interesting and one of the reasons I picked up the car is the availability of parts based on its Falcon sibling.
I did go to cometcentral.com but they must be having a problem with scammers so they rot allowing new user to register.
    Photos to follow (hopefully).

it’s the inner shifter column (first photo) that I’m fairly sure is the problem, rather than the outer column mounted switch with the wire harnesses. Anyone know where I can find (or refurbish) that inner plastic/brass connector sleeve the clips into the shifter column?

    Thanks.
