1974 comet with a 250 blown head

    this car is a one owner that i just acquired to find that the head is no good where is the best place to find a used head

    If I'm not mistaken the 250 was used in just about everything from mustangs to vans. Start at your local junkyard, considering they were a dime a dozen a usable one shouldn't be too expensive. Though it would be helpful if someone chimed in here to tell you the difference between the 250 and the 300 six. Good Luck

    The difference between a 250 head and 300 head is size. The 300 is a big block six and has a removable intake.

    The 200 and 250 heads are interchangeable. Best place to fine one is local because of the weight it cost to ship.

    I would have local machine shop go over yours, junk yard head may be worse than yours!
    Don't forget to check block for warpage.
