Hey I'm not sure if anyone wants to help me bench race this build into shape but I guess I'll post it and see. I just bought a Comet and I am planning on building it into a daily driver this winter (probably next summer and winter to at the rate my projects seem to go). First stage will removing the mouse destroyed interior and fixing rust. There is alot of surface rust everywhere (this will get buffed off and coated in rust bullet) but the only real bad places are in front of the rear wheel and behind the front wheel (this will need patching). I'll post a couple pictures of the car tomorrow if I can get around to it I'm sorta laid up I just had my first pro MMA fight and I'm unbelievebly sore :rofl2:. If anyone has some spare time and wants to shoot the :bs: it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree even starting with this car so any input is very welcome!

Tore apart abit of the interior today. The plan right now is to strip the interior and patch the bits that are rusted through (the floor is in suprisingly good shape) then Rust Bullet the floor. Not sure what to do about the interor colour. Im not a fan of the light green at all and since I'm undecided on what the outside colour is gonna be I might just convert it to all black since I'm getting newer buckets anyway. Tried on a set Cobra R type 17" wheels that are sitting around. Would fit with spacers but I didn't like the look, I'm gonna stick with the dog dish hubcaps but maybe 15's on the back.

Looks like a good start. I'd convert it back to '73 bumpers. Tan interior stuff is pretty easy to come by & looks ok with the dark green . Is it a 6 or V8? You gonna just drive/cruise or drive/race a bit?

Haha I actually do drive a 2000 F150 4x4 and I have two more 70's pickups and a Bronco haha. This is for when I need to drive back and forth from the city (and around in Edmonton). Got the interior close to being stripped. Car was $250 and is 200/3 speed manual. I plan on putting an EFI 5.0/T-5 in but that'll probably be one of the later stages of the project. I am gonna feel bad taking this engine and trans out because it runs so good (even if it is a bit underpowered). I've been keeping an eye out for early bumpers but I almost want to leave the big ones just for in case when I'm driving in the city. Maybe I should say screw it and put the small bumpers on and just hope no one runs into me. Any reason to put the 73 bumper on rather than the 70-72?

Bit of an update, got the car basically stripped and ready to get to the body work though that's gonna suck now that it's pretty much winter so I might just do mechanical upgrades and get it ready for body work when it's a bit warmer. Almost got a good deal on a Bullitt mustang but it was a shady deal so I backed out. Now I got the hankering so I'm thinking I should build the comet into a Bullitt version. Anyone done this? (P.S. if no one has don't steal my idea that I stole from FoMoCo haha) I'm thinking 17 or 18 inch bullitt wheels, highland green paint, even considering doing the mavstang mod with the mustang front end but probably just keep it a Bullitt Comet

Hey haven't gotten much done to the comet due to school but I get 2 weeks off and I have been collecting parts so hopefully I give it a good thrashing over those 2 weeks and see how much I can get done. Picked this baby up tonight for 80 bucks and the guy swore up and down it was from a V8 car, got it home and ID'd it and figured out it was from a 4 cyl :(
It's still a world class but its got fairly low gears but if I leave the high gears in my rearend maybe its usable? I'll have to look into it a bit more and I'll post some updates over the next couple weeks theres gonna be a lot of sawzalling haha

Haha I just put that as a joke but didn't get any responses, I thought about it though because I was like I should put a mustang front clip on this. Then to make the doors match I was gonna get door skins from a mustang and mould them in. Then I was like well I might as well mould in some mustang quarters. Then I see that kit and I was like well I might as well do that too lol. Then I gave my head a shake and got that out of my system haha.
