I purchased a Ford 302 recently. Supposedly this engine came from a 1976 Truck. The guy at the salvage yard had it in a 77 Granada. I was able to hear and see it run. Right now I am in the final stages of the 302 engine swap. The engine is in the car. My question is if this is a 1976 Truck engine does anyone know if the engine would have larger valves or anything benificial opposed to having a 76 maverick 302? I know in 76 or even 75 for that matter the mavericks horsepower was down to a low 129 horespower. Was this the same for all 76 302's?

the main differences i know of are they usually put larger CC heads on the truck engines. i would check the compression on the cylinders to get an average and check it against a chiltons. other than that, it pretty much the same engine.

The block and heads in my dad's old Comet were from a '68 F100. It had tons of compression and ran great.
