have a chance to get a 1979 granada will the disc brake from it fit my 1970 maverick. The granada has a 6 cyl in it and what other parts I need off it?
I've been told that the Granada disc brake system bolts right up to Mavericks & Comets. If it has a center console with shifter, that will bolt up in a Maverick or Comet with some fabrication where the shifter sits in the floor. The shifter is smaller on a Granada. But well worth the effort. You can see pictures of my Granada console & shifter in the Cosmetic section under "Console in a Comet, you bet".
The Granada changed body styles somewhere in there. I think that is what he is referring to. Fairmont is Fox body, later Granadas? I dunno?
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but AFAIK the Granada/Monarch was never built on the fox body chassis. The Fairmont/Zephyr were the first experiments with that platform. So the brakes should work on your Mav.
more info look under front of car... if it has rack & pinion steering it is a fox body... it it has conventional steering box w/ ram power assist it is a compatible swap ps... fox body will also have 4 lug rotors
Maple; You're partially right. The Fairmont/Zephyr were the first Fox-platform cars. However, they were joined by the Granada/Monarch and the Thunderbird/Cougar for the 1981-82 model years. These were essentially the same cars with different bodies. In 1983 the Granada/Monarch was dropped, the Thunderbird/Cougar became a new car, and the Fairmont/Zephyr became the LTD II/Marquis which continued through 1986 when it was replaced by a new car, the Taurus/Sable. The Granada/Monarch/Lincoln Versailles used the Maverick platform through 1980. Sam
