I think I read a thread on here somewhere that someone has #100009 (or #9) so I am sure that they can tell you. #9 had to of been built in the first month. Being a half year car I would bet on spring of 69 some time. Someone here knows for sure. There is a bunch of smart guys here.
Mavericks went into production on April 17, 1969, which was a Thursday. The earliest known Maverick still in existence, the 9th car scheduled for production, is now a drag car, owned by maverickdvm.
0 = 1970 model year X = St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada assembly plant 91 = 2 door non-Grabber Maverick T = 200 I6 engine 189505 = 89,505th car scheduled for production at the St. Thomas plant for the 1970 model year. If you get the rest of the codes off the door tag, we can tell you more, including the exact day it was built, and what state/city it was bought new in (or near).
Ford introduced the Maverick on Mustangs 5th birthday. They wanted to recreate the excitement that worked so well for the Stang.
I am pretty sure they were released to the public that day, which would have put them in production a bit before that. They were released that day to match the release date of the first Mustangs in 1964.
which then turned out to be the best selling car in Ford's history, outselling the Mustang's production figures by over 30,000 or so cars
Regular Maverick production began on March 17 1969 at St.Thomas, and March 27 1969 at Kansas City. There are no 69.5 Mavericks, it's just a term used to describe the early ones with the key in the dash (and a few other differences) they were all produced as 70's.
