I have a set of 2008 Mustang GT 17" Bullitt Wheels with P235/55/ZR17 Tires. I think the wheels are 8" Width. I want to install them on my 1976 4dr Maverick. I used a 1-1/4" Hub Centric Wheel Adapter and the A-arm is about 3/64" from the wheel lip. What is a minimum clearance for the wheel not to rub the A-arm for any reason? Do any of you have personal experience installing these wheels on your Mavericks? Please share info

    Thanks, --Romeo

I don't have those rims but I have a set that came off an '06 convertible (I really wanted those ones, wanna swap??). Should be the same backspacing as those. You'll need about 1.25-1.5" spacers behind each wheel. I went with the 1.5" spacers.

Thanks Fastback86. By the way, how much clearance do you get from your A-arm with the 1.5" adapter? Do you get any rubbing on turns (fender, innerwell, etc)? Would you go for 1.75" spacers?

I'm not sure how much clearance I have, I think its about half inch or so. I wouldn't go any bigger than 1.5 inches. I almost wanted to get 1.25" spacers but I got the bigger ones to be safe on fitment. I may get different ones if I lower the car and convert the front to discs, depending on how far out they sit after I swap everything. So far no rubbing any where though they look real close to the fender when turning. I don't have my inner splash guards on either.

I've got brake disks on the front and if I use a 1.5" wheel adapter I think I will only have 5/16" space between my wheel lip and A-arm. As of now with the information fastback86 gave me I know I would need no less than 1.75" wheel adapters to get at least 1/2" space between A-arm and wheel lip.

My stock 14" wheel has a BackSpace of 4", measures 4" from mounting face to the furthest point of the wheel lip.

These 17" Bullitt Wheels has a BackSpace of 6.25", with tire it's 6-5/8"

My 17" Bullitt wheel (with 1.25" wheel adapter) has 3/64" space between wheel and A-arm

I have installed the 2008 Mustang GT 17" Bullitt 8" Wheels with P235/55/ZR17 Tires on my totally stocked 1976 4dr Maverick. I decided to go with the 2" adapters all around instead because for some reason I think I had read somewhere that these mustangs came with 8.5" from the manufacturer. Everything seems to fit perfect, no rubbing whatsoever. Here are some pics:
