For those of you who also viewed my previous thread about my 200ci I hosed down, yes, its still not starting. :/ It used to start and idle very very very badly then die in a burst of backfire but now it wont even turn over. Im getting the notorious "click" right as I turn the key. I tried re-spacing the points and even the voltage regulator for the points (currently forgot its name) and still no luck. Now with 2 issues to tackle you guys have any ideas? And are both the awful idle/run and the "click" related? Your guyses expertise would be much appreciated :)!!

Battery is fine I tested it by starting one of my other cars. :/ if it is a loose connection where are the first palces I should check? The dome light and radio work.

If you have a chattering solenoid then either the battery is weak or maybe have a cable problem... If it just clicks once, then the battery is likely OK and there is a problem with the cable from solenoid to the starter, if that's OK you could have a bad starter...

    BTW

.I've seen very weak batteries that would operate a newer permanent magnet starter, but wouldn't begin to operate a old field coil starter that were orig on our cars....

Ill check if the battery cables heat up as soon as I can. Do you think the rough idle (when I do figure out the electrical issue) could be because I somehow got water into the fuel lines while I was spraying down the engine? Or is that pretty slim of a chance.
