hey yall, i recently got a offer on what i believe to be a 260 ford V8 in a 1964 galaxie, but im not 100%, can yall help me with the engine code letters (in the vin)???? also, will a 302 intake fit on the 221, 260, 289 motors??? any help is greatly appreciated! Darren
I can't help you with decoding the VIN. Try a '64 or other years Galaxie site for that. The 260-302 intakes are the same. Seth
I believe the 221's were only used in 62 and 63 Fairlanes. I had a 62 with a 221 in it. It is the same block as a 260, 289 or 302. an intake for either would work.
Ronald, Did you see the latest issue of Shorthorns with the Bearcat photo? Is that the way you remember seeing them? Seth
Intake will fit. On another note, be careful the 221, 260 and early 289's require a 5 bolt bellhousing.
Seth Im not an MCCI member. I need to join just never had time to do it. But I would like to see the picture of the Bear Cat.
Posted before I read Maverick 1970's post he is correct the 221, 260 and early 289's had a five bolt bell housing also did not have a PCV system only had a road draft tube with a wire mesh breather. All were equiped with a generator instead of an alternator until 1965.
