What was the stock size for a 250 engine-74 Mav? 1 3/4"? Also, any reason I can't just cut off the existing pipe behind the front axcel, and adapt it up to a 2" or 2 1/4" to fit a new muffler? I need a new muffler but don't want to get into changing the exhaust manifold just yet.
The pipe coming off the exhaust manifold appeared to be 1 3/4 on my car .... and I had them connect it to a 2" pipe when my new muffler was installed.
My 250 (`76) had 2" pipe from the manifold back. 2 1/4" is as big as I would go with a stock or mildly modded 250 or you will loose low end torque and gas milage .
