The dwell on the points is 35 to 39 degrees, if you are using a wire guage that would be .027". The timing is 6 degrees before TDC. The idle speed is 600 in drive with the headlights on if you have a curb idle solenoid. If you unplug the idle solenoid and set the idle stop at 600 in nuetral and then set the idle stop solenoid for the higher rpm your car will shut off when you remove the key instead of running on, coughing and wheezing. The fast idle speed is 1200 - 1500 when absolutely cold with the choke closed. It will be higher if the engine is warm.

You might be able to advance the timing to 8 or 10 degrees but the specs I provided are the factory specs.
