Anybody know if the 250 straight 6 was offered with the 3 speed manual tranny? Any idea what years?

    Thanks,

I think my daddy said he had a '72 with a 250 with the 'ol 3 on the tree.

According to my documentation ... the 250 was not available with a manual tranny until 1974. My first car was a 1974 Comet 250 with LDO interior and 3-speed manual floor shift.

Thanks guys. That helps. I'll look for a '74-'77. My hope is to find a 4 door with a 250 I6 and a 3 speed manual on the floor. I'd like to find one and put a T5 in it.

That is SERIOUSLY looking for a needle in a haystack.

    Well... here's proof that's wrong. My 73 2 door: info.jpg

Or do you mean floor shift? My car was a 250/3 on the tree with A/C.

Is the 250 with 3 speed manual rare in itself? Or is it the 250 with 3 speed manual and floor shift combo that's rare?

You need one more step: 250 with 3 speed manual and floor shift combo and in a 4-door.

So can y'all tell me what are the most common manual trans drivetrains in 4 door mavericks? Or is a manual trans 4 door rare in any case?

I would say it is pretty rare for a manual trans in a 4-door. And the floor shift manual would be even rarer. I know of only one ever made.

I was reading some '72 documentation the other day and it sounded like the 250 was NOT available with a floor shift, which what I'm gathering from this thread too. Why was that?

I really appreciate all the replies. If I may modify my question, what would be the simplest, easiest combo you can get in a 4 door, that gets the best gas mileage? I don't mind swapping in a T5 or maybe even an AOD.

I was originally thinking a T5 behind a 250 manual would be the way to go as the bellhousing would work and the 250 might work well with a deep overdrive and numerically low rear gears (like 3.00). Since the 250, 4 door, 3 speed manual will be a hard combo to find, what would be a better idea for max mpg?

    Thanks for any thoughts,

    paulie
