Would a 300 straight six out of a 73 f100 fit straight into a Maverick that had a 250? Or would I need different mounts and all sorts of things?

You will need a longer engine compartment, a taller hood, and a whole new kind of mount for it. If you are good with a torch and forming steel you might be able to get it in there but it aint gonna be pretty.
Without the sarcasm - no, it is not a good engine to swap into a Maverick of any year.

Haha, thanks. I didn't know how similar it was as I've never seen one in person. Just found it on craigslist and figured I'd ask.

There are a few out there with this swap. It is not easy but it can be done. There was one at the Roundup in 2004.

If you're looking for more power from your 250, try the aluminum head and alloy intake manifold available from www.classicinlines.com
