    here we go again.

This subject seems to be something of an enigma.
Everyone in the world has there own idea of what their Maverick weighs. Mine is 2710lbs with a full tank of gas and me in it.
There are some as light as 2400lbs and as heavy as 3300 on here.
If you do a search on weight you'll see what I mean.
best bet if your curious about yours is to head to a recycler or someplace else with a certified scale and weigh it.
    Good luck,

Yeah, lots of discussion on here about weight (it is one great thing about these cars). My understanding is that the subframes were made out of a slightly thicker steel in '72 to accomodate the v8. You can get it weighed at a local truck stop, or a recycler as stated above.

Don't say the word 'recycler'. Car has a phobia about those places. That is where I bought my car...it was being driven to the crusher when I found it. They did weigh it, though, and it weighed 2455lb., with the six cyl and auto, and nothing else.

When we first got Tammy's car it weighed 2820 lbs bone stock V8 automatic 1/2 tank and no A/C compressor.

Now with all the changes it weighs 3120 lbs 1/2 tank.

The thing to remember is drag cars usually weigh less because all the extra stuff has been removed, lighter is faster. Our car gained weight from the rear springs, power seats, sway bars, exhaust, and things, all these little things add up.
