302 question

    my 302 from a 68 cougar now in a 75 comet sounds like a bad power steering pump. It is manual steering with no ac. Only one belt running the water pump, alt, and crank. The faster you go the louder it gets. I took the belt off and started it and it has the same sound like a power steering pump with a bad bearing. Any ideals??

    Check trans fluid level and also make sure converter is not rubbing the bell etc. Possable tranny rebuild is eminent if fluid level is ok. Sounds like the front pump could be the problem.
