I was just wondering what kind of 302's everyone has. I have a 82 mustang motor in my car, with a 289 preformer intake and a 390 Holley. I just purchased a 85 roller 302 which, I'm going to build up for some serious horse power. what year of 302's is everyone else running and what mods?
mine is a 79 short block from a granada..... the heads are d5oe from 75 f100 (soon to be changing these i think...) performer 289 intake edel 600 carb MSD ignition system
66 289 with 351 heads in my 4dr .Stock 302 in 71 .70 still needs motor not sure what to build for it.
1988 roller block,Edelbrock Victor jr. heads. I used to run a 1968 302 block with `65 289 heads. Before that I had a `66 289 engine with `72 302 heads.!
1972 302 original motor..building 66 model 289 closed chamber heads for it, 270h cam, wieand stealth and 600 edelbrock...hookers.
MY daughter's is a 78 block .040 over. Mild cam. 78 heads with the exhaust ported and hardened exhaust seats. Stock type flat top pistons with just the valve reccess. The heads were shaved about .035 to raise the compression some. I'm hoping for around 9.5. Will probably run a 390 Holley I found out in the shed but not sure about the intake clint
Mines the original 73, 302 with 155,000 miles. Holley 600 with weind x-celarator intake. gathering parts for a rebuild. Have a Mexican 302 block and 69 Windsor heads. Exploring cams now.
1968 "J" code 302 with a slightly hotter cam and Holley 650 DP. The 68 heads had a smaller chamber then other years. Running 10.5:1 compression.
I have two for mine. The one that's in there now is a mid 70's block bored .030 with flat top pisons, stock heads, mild rv cam, cast iron 4bbl intake with a Holley 600cfm, Duraspark ignition with Accel 8.8mm wires & Hedman headers. The other block is the original one from the car ('74) that has been bored .030 with flat top pistons, balanced and SPS rod bolts, heads have been fully ported with Chebby stainless 1.94"/1.6" valves, had a Comp cam 230deg @ .050 with .512" lift, had Edelbrock dual plane highrise, with the carb, ignition and exhaust remining the same. Planning on installing one of the newer Comp x-treme cams and the new Edelbrock dual plane high rise "air" that isolates the runners from the valley splash. All this through a C4 with a 2400 stall converter. Only problem with this unit is we have emissions testing up here and it sucks, that's why the other block is in there for now.
i have a 75 block w/edlebrock performer 289 intake some exhasut manifold from like 2 other engine and i dont know the others since my neighnbors nephew rebuilded it, might have something good in it but idk
Mine is the original 73, completely stock except for an open air cleaner and Pertronix. The Odometer reads 10600. It still runs like new. Jonathan
302 block machined to "0" deck hieght, stock crank and rods with KB pistons making 10.5to1 compression. Solid lifter camshaft(256@.050-505 lift), COMP Cams roller tip rail rockers on the original '72 heads I ported and installed 351w valves with Isky springs. Edelbrock Performer RPM, 650 DP Holley, MSD 6AL and shorty headers. _____________________________________________________________ Rocky
