428 or 429 can it ever happin

    ok well i am a 15 year old punk who has jsut bought a 1973 mercury comet:bouncy: . I would like to start turing it into a real sleeper some time so i can have the coolest car out of all my freands, and the ladies will like it to:yippee: But how do i turn it into such a cool car that all my freands will like it:huh: well i could try puting a 428 or 429 in:dance: . I was wondering if it could happin some day and if someone out there has ever done it. If they have how did it go. the more replies that say it could happin, the more evidence i have to my dad to help me put it in:clap: . Thanks

    It'll take at least a year and I'd say $5k to get it done (probably closer to 7 or 8 by the time you factor in nuts and bolts and interior stuff). You're looking at a mustang II front end, custom headers, steering linkage, brake lines, all the engine costs, a C6 tranny or toploader, 9" rear, frame connects, maybe a cage, etc. etc. Lots and lots of work, but definitely doable and will be really fun and cool.

    427 SOHC is easier ... just a matter of modifying the shock towers ...

    a 302 (considering you dont have one already) or 351 would be alot more doable.

    At your age, you don't need that kind of power. A 302 will be more then enough and take about a week to swap in.

    If you do a search over on fordmaverick.com you can find pictures of my car durring construction I have a 460 in mine with the m2 frontend. It's alot of work but alot offun as well.
