Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a 691/2 and a 70 Mav. I have just aquired a 70 and it seems to me to be different from all the othere I have come across. Dont know what it is but it is just different. Any info would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Don

69.5 has the key in the dash, that's the easiest check.

The key is mounted down on the package tray next to the radio instead of on the steering colum. The steering colm also looks diffrent, kind of like the colum's in my 60's and 70's F100 trucks. My '69.5 has a metal tag with the VIN and all the info stamped in it riveted to the inside of the drivers side door thats also like my old F100's instead of a sticker in the door jamb like most Mavericks. I'll be going to pick the car up real soon and I'll get pics of all the details then and put them on my site.

It will have a key on the dash instead of the column. A stamped metal ID tag on the drivers door instead of a printed tag on the door jam. A horn ring instead of a horn pad. Also probably a Federal Safety Sticker, silver in color, in the inside of the trunk lid. I have seen pictures of the early rear view mirror mounted from the roof instead of stuck to the glass too.

OK then mine is a 691/2. It has the key in the dash.

Thank you very much. I guess the score on this one was worth the money.
    Thanks

Intresting, mine has neither. Mine just has a regular glass mounted mirror and a horn pad. Of course, the car is almost 40 years old, who knows what's been changed over the years.

Mine also has a glue on mirror and a horn pad.

And as of today it has disk brakes. thanks to a 1975 doner.

Let's see, we got a Sprint registry and a Comet GT registry, someone needs to start a '69.5 Maverick registry. :yup:

I've junked 2 of them and turning my third one into a convertible. All of them had windshield mounted mirrors. I think a 69.5 Registry is a great idea. Besides the 2 you mentioned, there is also a Stallion, a 70 Grabber and a 76 Grabber Registry.

ATO Monkey has a 1969 1/2 and it does not have the metal tag rivited to the door....it has the blue data decal stuck on the jamb. It is also did not have the silver sticker inside the trunk lid. His was built in September if I remember correctly. Maybe one of the last 1969 1/2's ever built!!

The 69.5 I parted, had the early key - door tag - horn ring - trunk sticker - but not the mirror from the roof. Probably some of those things were being changed over as production was underway for the new car called Maverick.

I know on the board there was a thread with the mirror, that is why I mentioned it. Here is the picture from that thread:

That is cool! What thread did that pic come from? Wonder if there was a part number on that mirror?

I sent off for a 999 History report on my '69 a few weeks ago, so hopefully I'll know soon when it was made and everything.

Eric; I have a 69.5, and my mirror is on the windshield....always has been. The original windshield was broken, but the mirror was on the glass. Hope this helps.
