Well, after years (yes, years) of looking for the right 71-72 Grabber with all the options I wanted, I finally found one and picked it up on Saturday. It's a project car, but in the end it will be a nice ride. Factory Details: -302 -Floor Shift Auto -AC -PS -Tinted glass -AM Radio -Bright Blue Metallic (3J) with Gold/White stripes -WHITE High Back Bucket seat interior/deluxe interior As far as I can tell, this is the twin to Frank Sevillano's Grabber pictured here: http://picasaweb.google.com/Frank.Sevillano/Carla The history of the car is very cool! I bought it from a very nice gentleman, Jack, who's grandfather bought it new in 72. The grandfather drove it for a while and it was given to Jack who drove it until the 80s and sold it. 17 years later, Jack found the car again and bought it back in hopes of restoring it. After 4 years of sitting in the garage, Jack realized he wouldn't get to restoring it and put it for sale. That's where I stepped in. He even had the original window sticker for the car and gave me a picture of the car as it was in the 70s! The car came with all new weatherstripping in the packages, a new headliner, very nice replacement kick panels, back seat panels, and deluxe door panels to replace the ones in it. He also had a disc brake setup for it, the original 302 with aluminum 4 barrel intake, a new 4 barrel carb, and various other new and used parts. The car also has a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system and runs pretty good, however the Autolite 2100 carb needs a rebuild because the accelerator pump is on the fritz. There is no rust on the car, but it has had some shallow dings and scrapes over the years, thus some thin skims of bondo and the primer you see. The driver's door and passenger's fender have been replaced, and the original buckets have been replaced. Other than that, the car is complete and original. The complete AC system is even still together. Plans for the car is a full resto back to original appearance. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy!
Thanks, guys! I'm stoked about this car. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated. I do have to get the 70 Grabber back together before I attack this car, though. Both buckets are out of a later year Mav, the driver's just has a seat cover slipped over it because it is trashed. I'll be switching back to the correct buckets.
Awesome buy! I like the white interior. I guess I have only seen them accented with a black dash and carpet ... blue looks great too. Can't say I have seen an elbow on the end of the air cleaner snorkel, either. Does that seem like it came on the car originally?
Cool car ...... too bad they swapped out the buckets for a later year ..... wonder why they did that?
