Hi everyone. My name is Craig. I'm in VA, near DC. I have a '73 Maverick which my family has owned since '74. It now has 313,000 miles on it. It's a 302, Auto, A/C, P/S, with a PDB conversion that came from a '76 junkyard Maverick back in '89. My parents turned the car over to me in '88 after I rebuilt the engine - my first project on a car! It has a beautiful Erol Scheib metallic dark red paint job, and styled steel wheels. I still drive the car 50 miles to/from work each day, but it is getting rusty (I put a post in parts wanted looking for doors). My likes: the 302 and the disc brakes - much better than the nonpower drums were. My dislikes: the power steering has frequently developed leaks over the last 20 years; and the small engine compartment just can't get rid of enough heat when I'm sitting in traffic in warm weather. Most interesting things that have happened to me with this car: Driving 10 people home from high school in it back in 1985; passing a cop doing 95 on I-95 back in my high school days (safe to say I never drove it that fast again); and a fire in the trunk on I-95 near Richmond back in 2000. Anyways...I'm looking forward to using the message board. Thanks.
Hello 73MavNoVa, Welcome to the board. it's nice to hear that your car has been in your family that long. My 73 4door has been in my family since my father bought it brand new in 1973 and in 1979 I purchased it from him and have owned it ever since. there is alot of people here to answer your questions and help you with your project. good luck and please keep us posted.
