This is a Mercury Comet, not a Ford Comet. Good luck with your build.

Funny to hear it called a Ford Comet. I'm always correcting persons calling my '61 Comet a Mercury Comet. As is pretty commonly known around most Blue Oval related forums, only the 1960 and 1961 Comet is truly a Ford Comet.

    W
hen Ford corporate decided to dump the poor selling Edsel line of cars , the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln dealerships were changed to being Mercury - Lincoln - Comet dealerships until 1962 when the Comet was folded into the Mercury nameplate. ... Why - ? -- IDNK

    have fun

Calling the '61/'62 a Ford Comet is no more correct than calling full size models Ford Mercury or Ford Lincoln...

I was around in the car seen in the early 60's and I don't ever recall Comet having a Ford badge. AFAIK , Comets have been a product of Lincoln/Mercury Division.

Yes....as stated.....Comet was "briefly" it's own car line...just like Mercury and Lincoln. Edsel was also it's own line as well.

Well at least he did not call it Mercury Maverick. Was interesting to learn about the 60-61 Ford Comet though.

    Good luck with your build
