We have started progress on our Comet last week and thought it might be a good idea to document our progress.

These pictures are of the comet 'sold as is'.

Door windows were plexi glass and sealed shut.
All the blue and white you see in these pictures is a metallic spray paint the previous owner used.
All the windows except the front of the windshield were self tinted with a black spray paint.
Engine, radiator, power steering, alternator, everything was just thrown into the engine when i bought it. (600$)
Some small floor rust on the driver and passenger floors.
On each corner near the bottom of the fenders there is a little bondo/fiberglass which was painted over. (very badly done)
They tried to lower the vehicle, in doing so, the front and back tires have been rubbing against the fender rims slashing up the sides of the tires.

For our first night we ripped out the engine(302 v8). None of the engine mounts were in place and one of the towers were ground down and smashed up. (Soon to be fixed)

    The floor pans.

We started grinding last night after taking off the fenders, grill and hood. The back passenger floor has the worst of it, rusted right through. I only got a couple hours to grind out a bunch of the driver side rust. Anyways pictures!

Yeah its pretty wicked, except that all the paint on the car is spray paint, even the back and quarter windows. >.<

Back window is now half scraped.

The other quarter window is fully scraped off this one is nearly done.

Removed the fenders, hood and doors. The door windows were replaced with plexi glass and sealed right into the weather stripping. So I took hammer and smashed it pulled it all out, the weather stripping too. It looks like the windows had broke before, because there is broken glass inside the door frame. Blegh.

The floors look decent, and it's a factory bucket seat car!
Do you have a Marti Report? That's the only real way to know if it's a "GT" or not.
Some strange things have been done to that poor car...

Not unless the Marti Report is in with all the papers I have from when I bought it. I'll take a look.

(Technically this is my first car, and first resto project so what I know is what I've read online. I have a few friends who know what they are doing who are helping me barrel through this.)

    Were always here to help.
I have a 74 Grabber that came form Kelowna.

Marti reports, aren't too expensive, and will give you some information on what the car was, and where it came from when it was new.

I found these in the mix of papers, seems the first owner traded her mustang and paid the difference for this comet.

That's pretty cool to have! It says GT, so it should be..you can always get a Marti Report to back it up.
Looks like they had 3 choices of colors to pick from? But your car was Yellow.

Yellow interior and brown exterior it seems.
under the blue spray paint is a dark brown, and the back seats I have are yellow. Two tone maybe?

are factory bucket seat cars not common? or is it just kinda cool that it has that?

Buckets are common, but not factory buckets. Some say that GT's only came with buckets, but you could order a non-Gt with buckets.
Since the floors of your car are Yellow, I'd say it was Yellow from the factory.
What are the paint and trim codes off the sticker on the "B" pillar (Where the drivers door latches) Get me the codes, and I'll tell you what it was.

Will do, I'll be up at the shop garage later today. We are storing it at my father in-laws garage. Should have a picture posted in a couple hours.

I am with Dave (DDB). Originally...that car was yellow on the outside.
