I know this probably has been asked before but, I have a 74 Mav & the gas guage worked fine until my husband took the gas tank off to clean it. Since, he has put it back on the gas guage has not worked. Help!! Thank you!!!!

I'm sure the problem is going to be in the sending unit inside the tank. It may have gone bad or he may have possibly damaged it unknowingly. It's possible there is just a bad connection but he should be able to just unplug it, check the connection, and plug it back in and see if that fixes it. If it still does not work, he can unplug it, ground one of the wires (one at a time) in the plug to the body or frame somewhere while the ignition switch is on...watch the fuel guage and see if it goes over to the full position. If it does, the problem is definitely in the sender and will likely have to be replaced.

Could also be the tank isn't grounded or has lost it's ground??? Or are they self grounded thru the wiring harness??
