I found a fake Maverick concept picture on a Brazilian blog. The following are artist's comments, translated using google It definetly has that European look from the late 70s/early 80s.
It looks perfect for the 80's! I like it but I wonder what everyone would have said about the bumpers!
I might catch some grief for this, but I think those bumpers look nicer/better integrated into the body than the 74-77 bumpers.
I figured it would have hatchbacked by the 80s like everything else did. That concept needs a third door(hatchback), dechroming, an offset louvered grill on the hood and hidden wipers. Maybe a colorful TURBO graphic down the side.
I agree I think the bumpers look MUCH better I really like it I could see that resto-modded to bad it never was built.
I am with Ray it does look like a F150. Thank goodness they stopped production before that concept came around. Of course that is only my humble opinion!!!!
I like it from the A-pillars back...minus the door handles, mirrors, and rear bumper...I would do a bumper/mirror/door handle/front end swap!!! Then it would be awesome!!!
Argentine Ford engineers are the people you want to sell the same old (and cool) car for 3 decades. http://www.todofalcon.com.ar/galmodel.htm Honestly, I'd have loved if Ford of Mexico had done that kind of thing with the Maverick. Keeping the same old body with minor restylings and adding modern drivetrains at a reasonable price.
