I *might* have an opportunity to grab an '85 Police Interceptor LTD... would it be any more involved than the 302 swap, to pop the '85 5.0 + AOD into the '74 Mav? I know i need the V8 mounts and all... would an '85 be an AODE, or no? It's currently EFI, but i can switch it to carb, if I want, right?

Any specs on an '85 5.0? Hp, tq, stock... all that...

    thanks...

    Hey...

...You might want to do a search on SSP (Special Service Package)
Ford police cars. The rare ones, Mustang and the LTD are much more valuable than their basic counterparts to collectors.

I am familiar with that 302 powered LTD, it was quick.
If it is salvageable, I would keep it like it is. You may be
able to sell it for a profit to get a good crate motor.

    Just my little interjection.

1974 Maverick I bought for $500 8 years ago when I was 16. Since then I have invested $30,000 into it.
SweetHeart, It would be more involved putting the 5.0 in your 74. I dont know alot about the swap but I know you're going to need all the components that go along w/ the engine that wasnt in a 74 w/ 302. They cover this topic at www.maverickgrabber.com hope this helps you w/ that question. I dont know if that year was aod, but the C-4 you would have in your Mav now Should accept the 5.0 and if not you could just change the bellhousing. You can change the 5.0 to carb by getting rid of the intake and all EFI and building the engine off the short block. I just did the conversion to 302 not long ago thats also on the web listed previous. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any pics of my conv. 74Maverick, Thom

I used to have one! It was a 351W car though, which meant it had the awesome VV carb. :D I got it cheap because the carb went south, learned a lot about those carbs getting it back in shape, too bad everyone just throws 'em away. They are about 1100 reman!

Anyway, can't help you too much I guess, but I did enjoy that car.
