89 5.0L ho roller

    Would like some input as to the best ignition/distributor to use on a 5.0L ho roller engine in a 73 maverick.

    im running all msd , pro billet dizzy, msd 6al box ,blaster 2 coil, but i know alot of guys use duraspark , many different options

    lots of choices... IMO, run all MSD.
    I would buy a complete set from the same manufacture, makes install alot easier.

    yup :agreed: , im no master mech. or anything , but i would have say it was easy to install all my MSD parts

    I just run a duraspark with an accel coil on my truck. MSD box will also drive a duraspark distributor. Of course you have to splice or re-connector wires. Whatever distributor you get, make sure you run a steel or bronze dizzy gear with the roller cam. It will slap eat up an iron gear.

    If it's basically a stock motor and going to see mostly normal street use, you can use a Petronix setup very well. Buy a rebuilt distributor for $40, put in Petronix Igniter, and use a Petronix coil. It will all look stock and give very good performance for the street. I ran this setup in a '73 Mav that I sold. I have Petronix in my '77 Mav with a 250 six-banger.

    i run msd distributor, 6al box and a blaster ss coil from msd. i think the msd distributor came with a brass gear to change it out if i remember right.:)
