Would like some input as to the best ignition/distributor to use on a 5.0L ho roller engine in a 73 maverick. Thanks Gunny
im running all msd , pro billet dizzy, msd 6al box ,blaster 2 coil, but i know alot of guys use duraspark , many different options eddie
lots of choices... IMO, run all MSD. I would buy a complete set from the same manufacture, makes install alot easier.
I just run a duraspark with an accel coil on my truck. MSD box will also drive a duraspark distributor. Of course you have to splice or re-connector wires. Whatever distributor you get, make sure you run a steel or bronze dizzy gear with the roller cam. It will slap eat up an iron gear. Cleaver
If it's basically a stock motor and going to see mostly normal street use, you can use a Petronix setup very well. Buy a rebuilt distributor for $40, put in Petronix Igniter, and use a Petronix coil. It will all look stock and give very good performance for the street. I ran this setup in a '73 Mav that I sold. I have Petronix in my '77 Mav with a 250 six-banger.
i run msd distributor, 6al box and a blaster ss coil from msd. i think the msd distributor came with a brass gear to change it out if i remember right.
