yea i haven't figure everything out yet. but this weekend im picking the motor up. then the money is going to starting going into to completely build it up
Have you decided what you want from the engine yet? It is always good to know what you want before you start building.
The more power you get out of an engine the faster you have to turn it. The faster you turn an engine the shorter its life is. How long do you want this engine to last and are you planning on using it on the street too? btw: Turbos will add HP without rpm but only within limits.
For race only I would say that if you don't want the block to split in two, you need to limit HP to 500 - 600. That should use a dry sump oiling system, 7-8:1 compression and a blower. You still need good heads, and a tuned exhaust, dual plane forged crank, appropriate rods and pistons. It will be very expensive.
Yep, the 5.0 roller cam blocks have thinner main webs and decks compared to 78 and older blocks. Even 500 hp is pushing it, I've seen 'em split long before that. Then you always get someone who says their brother's best friends cousin got 700 hp out of his roller block and it lived just fine. If that's true, he was just lucky.
