I bought a used 9" third member with 389 gears and supposably a stock Posi setup.....? I put it all in to find out that the clutches need to be replaced..... :-(

So I was wondering if there is any difference between the them ....p.s the thirdmember case does not have a fill plug

their are 2 styles. a 4 ear clutch and a 5 ear clutch. the 5 ear clutch versions are very rare. i think fmx transmission clutchs work in those. you can still get the 4 ear ones

Can you give me a ballpark figure to how much they charge to put new clutches in the thirdmember.... Just drop off the thirdmember and pick it up

Cost will vary from shop to shop and even by region, best bet is to call a shop and ask.
