can someone verify what kind of horn goes on a '72 maverick ??
I bought some 12 volt horns and you can barely hear them, unless I put them across the battery.. I then checked the voltage coming off the horn wire under the hood and its approx. 9volts !

originally from the factory....a 12 vdc horn....with no relay.

It is not uncommon for the voltage to drop on some horns, that draw alot of current, through a smaller gage wire.

If your aftermarket horn takes more current, you may have to rewire the setup with a relay, and larger diameter wire for power feed.

The single horn on my '72 Maverick wasn't working so I bought a pair of Explorer horns off ebay. The Explorer horns look a lot like the Maverick horns.

The high tone of that pair didn't work so I ordered the high tone version of this http://www.jcwhitney.com/125db-add-a-horns/p2009015.jcwx?filterid=d16937y2002j1&_requestid=24460888 Would have been simpler to order the high and low tone pair of JCW horns.

Mounted a relay on the horn mounting bracket, used the original horn wire to switch the relay and ran a #10 wire with fuse thru the switched side of the relay to power the horns. Mounted the whole setup down low from where the original horn mounted. Its hardly noticeable.

They're plenty loud and sound good.
