John and I went to a hot rod and restoration trade show fri. Of course there was nothing there for the mavericks/comets but with John there as my teacher I put my politicing lessons to work in front of him for a grade:D :D Had a great time but he'll have to give the grade. Anyways....I was just wondering how much intrest if any there would be in a bolt-in R&P unit. It would use all the stock suspension but it would get rid of the bulky steering box and all the draglink parts and in so doing give us alittle more room. Let me know what you think. I don't know what the price would be.

Forgot to mention, how about a direct bolt in tilt column?

This subject has come up many times before. Supposedly Jeff Ford, former Mustang & Fords magazine editor, went to work for some company in FL that is developing a R&P set up for the Maverick. Thats the skuttlebutt anyway. I'd definately buy a couple of sets.

I"m definitely interested in it if there will be a non-power rack available and if it's a reasonable cost. Meaning less than what RRS wants for there rack that will fit our cars. They're already available from RRS but the price is just way too high!!

I would be interested if it truly were bolt-in with no cutting of shock towers and frame. I like the idea of keeping the suspension since I already went thru the trouble to put in the Total Control coilover setup(which is bolt-in as well!) . :) I would want a power one, since I now need the P/S pump to make the Hydroboost work....:D

I would definitely be interested in a true bolt-in rack & pinion for my Mav. Seems a pity that there isn't one available when there are so many for Mustangs. John B.

They are available at RRS right now.......I think they are a little over $2000.00.

2000.00 just seems a little steep. I personally would pay 1200 to maybe 1500.00 tops for a bolt in kit. Or I will just make my own for 500.00:)

I'd be very interested. If it can make these cars handle better, but at a decent price, I would give it a lot of consideration.

The problem with making or sourcing a rack is it would need to have correct measurements or the geometry will get off and cause bump-steer. Wilwood makes a universal "rear steer" rack that will work in our cars but the steering shaft is so far towards the center of the car it really gets in the way of most headers and possible other stuff. The RRS rack is the closest ive seen to solving these problems.
