i am getting soo close to driving the mav again, but i am having problems with the charging system, i had accidently dropped the alternator hooked up and it landed with the big positive terminal against the radiator sparking before i could get it pulled away the wiring harness up near the voltage regulator started smoking! i havent pulled the tape off the wiring harness yet. so is there a fusible link there? what are the chances of my voltage reg, or alternator being fried? is there any way to test them in the car? thanks a ton guys
i dont think there is a fuse in there could be wrong , what you need is a voltage gauge i cant remember exaclty what its called hook it up to your battery check to see when its tunning it should read 13.8-14.5 or so if it doenst you need a new alternator just my .02 eddie
good reason to disconnect the battery when playing with that stuff. i'd check the wiring and see if any of them burnt up. if not i'd put it back together and test it. hard to tell what happens to electrical parts. sometimes, if your lucky, they go on like nothing happened. good luck.
ok guys it was a bad alternator and the 2 fusible links were shot also, the links are located at the battery solenoind, got her charging again!
