Well now that we have the engine built, we have some fine tuning, mainly due to budget but two of the next adds are the MSD 6AL and Pro Billet disty and the Street Demon carb (725cfm).

Anyone with actually experience with these mainly the carb, I'm leaning towards it because everything I have read it seems to have the best street manners BUT when you get into the secondary it pours it on very hard......any input?

If its a 302 I do recommend a smaller carb. that's was the ignition box I was considering so if you do purchase please let us know your review

Sorry, I can't help you with the carb, but the MSD 6AL and Pro-Billet Distributor is the way to go. I got mine hooked up 2 weeks ago and I love it. It makes starting much easier and it helped my response big time. I was having some hesitation that I thought was the carb and as soon as I got them hooked up there was a huge difference in my response. I also went with the MSD 8.5mm wires.(y)

i also feel that carb is too big. a 650 will meet your needs better. it will give even better street manors and come on even harder when floored.
the bigger cfm or the 720 wont use all that possible air flow. that means it will have weaker signals at the boosters.

    yes

I keep getting conflicting info, even tech support from Demon says that with the build we have it will take the 725 AND use it!, however everything other tech type bulletin I read and forum says that anything over 600 cfm on a 302 is too much....BUT lets do the flow on the heads, intake and headers and see what we come up with....I'll be backkkkk.

    ok

well if I'm getting 90% volumetric efficiency:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh: which is a stretch, maybe not, 625cfm is max, wonder why tech support recommended that 725?

ok sold on staying 650 or under, empahsis on the under, but the MSD, I'm stoked about it.....like that I can dial the rpm from 2000 to 10,000 in 100 rpm increments.......keep the kiddo outta trouble:thumbs2:

staying 650 or under is a good idea. I have a 675 on my 302 but it came with the car and it's brand new. I am currently trying to swing a deal with my friend to trade me his 600 double pumper

If I were you Sams I would look for a 650 vac secondary like a 4150. That would be a really good carb for your car. If your not real familiar with carbs and tuning you don't even want to mess with a double pumper especially if its not needed. A 4150 vac secondary will give you a lot of tunability and make a really good street carb for your setup IMO.

I had the same engine setup on a 65 mustang with 3.55's in the rear. I used a 650 holley DP and it ran high 12's @ 108 with a 2.0 60 ft. Shoulda been good for low to mid 12's and very drivable.

If it's a driver that will rarely see WOT then a smaller carb will make you much happier. Be realistic about what your true use of the car will be and the end product will be what you want.

I ran a 600 double pumper on my GTO, at the time it had a 400 Pontiac with 10.5 compression, a Comp Magnum 305 cam with .525 lift, torker and headers. That car ran 12.70's with that carb. The car eventually morphed into a monster at the strip but it usually only ended up there 2-3 times per year. I ended up not driving it much because around town it just wasn't enjoyable.
