...the spectators http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8URH42O0&show_article=1 Yeah, I know. There was no evidence the accident was caused by racer, but the crowd was there to watch the races. Modern day drag strips do protect the spectators.
I was reading that, so it was early Saturday morning, and some 27 year old girl had her kid with her along with her father?? Must not be much going on around there.
I guess I'm getting old, at that time of morning, there shouldn't be anything going except sweet dreams and the night shift.
street racing Just another reason to keep race tracks open instead of closing them all for town houses and condos in every city in every state ,maybe the government is to blame a bit as it must know that is street racing is so popular everywhere. If the race tracks close then to the streets they will go ,racing has been a North American love for for over 100 years and its not going to change ,keep the quarter mile tracks open and promote more 12 sec races and there will be less street racing ,just my 2 cents Jimmy2gates
The biggest reason race tracks are closing is due to one main reason - the NIMBY disease. NIMBY is "not in my backyard." As communities expand and move out closer to the tracks, they complain about the noise and make enough noise of their own that elected officials give in. It also doesn't help that the track owner becomes a gazillionaire when he sells his property for a shooping center either. Everybody says we need to get racers off the streets and when someone says "Great, let's build one here." The next cry is "NOT IN MY BACKYARD! NOT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. BUILD IT OVER THERE." And so goes the cycle.
Yall are scaring the fish in that pond over on the left affecting the birds feeding. You must cease to race imedieatly or citations will be issued . Some day someone will complain about SOMETHING Scott...
The closet track to me has been fighting with it's neighbours for years, It's been there since the 60's but in the last few years it's become yuppie-ville, so that nasty race track is on the hit list, they have put restrictions on burn-outs, jet cars, and racing times.
Then what did you fanatics, I mean racers, do to the rest of the surrounding grass? Looks like some smokin been goin on...SHUT EM DOWN! I'm just sayin that sometimes, someone, somewhere thinks they have a voice that needs to be heard, and people need to agree or they are the disorderly/enemy :16suspect.
I agree. The Baytown track, which is the closest 1/4 track, was built out in the boonies like this one. Then a trailer park opened across the street, and now, all kinds of 1/2 million dollar homes are getting close. Mine is still WAY out in the boonies. Angleton has around 15,000 population, and here is where the track is compared to town...There is a LOT of empty space around it. For now...
Where I live there are 3 tracks within 50 miles of my house One has Thursday night ,One has friday night, and all three have Sat. races , two of them have Sunday races ...and some people STILL street race. I won`t Lie , I have pulled a couple of gears with some guys when the time and place seemed safe ...a long time ago when I was younger and stupider ,but NEVER in a Planned organized place with spectators lining the sides of the road.
