Did the 1970 mavericks come with lap belts or any type of seatbelt? I recently purchased mine and oddly enough didn't have them. I've not gotten a chance to look to see if they were taken out, or if they just never came with it.

Every Maverick and Comet sold in the US came standard with lap belts and shoulder belts.

ahh okay. So I should for sure at least have the bolt holes where the should be, so If I have too, I can just buy new belts and install them.

Yup on a 76 there should be a place where the retractable belt assembly attached to the inside of the rocker area. A bolt hole on the side of the transmission tunnel towards the bottom and a spot for the seat belt drop down on the inside roof structure somewhere in the vicinity of the b pillar.

What would be involved in putting retractable in a 70? It has the bolt uptop for the stand alone shoulder, and a bolt down below for the lap. Not sure if you could buy a retractable and put it in.

    Roger,

I am converting mine to 3 point retractables. Reusing the upper mount for the original shoulder belt for this belt drop that I pulled out of a passenger van seems to get the geometry right.

Details are in my build thread ....
