Are all of the 351-W the same? Just because I was looking for an oil pan and flywheel for it and they go up to 87 and thats it and mine is a 89 block. If I can I will use a 302 28oz flywheel and front sump pan, I just need some clarification on the above. Thanks guys! :tiphat:

    Yes to the 302 flexplate.
No to the 302 oil pan.

351w cars used a front sump pan that looks identical to the 302 part at a glance. It is slightly wider at the mounting flange, but fits a Maverick fine.

Mounting flanges are the same. The area where the pan goes around the rear main cap is wider. But yes, the 351w pan IS different.

351W's were installed in Vans and Pickups in the later years.

Pan shapes may be different for some odd applications. Vehicle crossmembers or steering components may have made for some unique applications.

I would also be concerned about oil dipsticks and dipstick tubes.

That's fine, whatever it is it's getting thrown away, now that I was looking closely at it; it's really so much better to replace it, plus the most a new flexplate for a 302 28oz is like 50bucks so thats ok. Especially if it helps prevent having to change it within the next year. Thanks guys for you knowledge . And have one on me :beerchug:.

Now I just need to buy the motor mounts and she will be goin in! I may get some headers, (the ones on it don't seem to be factory and are nice and tight to the block so maybe.....LOL
