Just wondering Who on this board is from San Diego,Ca,and owns a Maverick?I am thinking of organizing a Meet, and know of a perfect place(several actually) to do it.
I am in San Diego. Have a couple of Mavericks. Girlfriends '72 beater Grabber and a '70 that is all apart in the garage. What did you have in mind?
well... i was thinking of organizing a meeting or gathering of Mav/Comet owners from San Diego on a Saturday night.
Sounds good. Most Saturday nights work for me. I have seen several real nice Mavericks around but have had almost no luck tracking down the owners. 8-( How many do you know who might be interested? Coming up pretty soon, the La Mesa weekly car show starts up again as well as the El Cajon weekly car show. These are on Wednesdays in El Cajon and Thursdays in La Mesa. Saturdays during the spring/summer/fall you have the Stock Car races at Cajon Speedway. I don't know about Carlsbad drag strip for this year. Seems that is a questionable situation as to whether they will be running another year or not. If they still are open, Saturdays are usually open for test and tune during the day. As you know, there are any number of car theme / vintage resturants around town as well as many nice parks and beaches. I am open to just about anything. Understand that one of my Mavs is in pieces getting the body ready for a paint job and the other is a beater. But the enthusiasm is definitely there!
Hmmm, what would be better than to crash the MM&FF mustang shootout at Palmdale this weekend???? I am from Riverside/orange county area. However, there are a growing # of us in SO CAL. If you want a big showing, lets all plan a palmdale/carlsbad meet sometime at a dragstrip. Would be fun.
Well ,that would be cool But also i was thinking of a weekly meet. For example:Every saturday night here in Clairemont Mesa we have people gathering with their cars on parking lots. One starts at 7 p.m. On the corner of Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Diane ave in Ross Shopping center by Jack in the Box.Mopar club meets there. Then an about 9-10 p.m. Imports and domestics old and new meet an the corner of Balboa and Genesee ave in Mervyn's and Long Drugs Parking lot.I was thinking of either place, but would be nice to do it at Mervyn's location since there is a lot of space there.
I live in Pasadena & work in Corona. Still a little far for me, but thought I'd respond. Who's going to Knott's?
I live in San Diego near Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Clairemont Dr. Would love to see the various local Mavs for ideas and just to see them I have the engine out right now and am doing what little work I can afford from paycheck to paycheck. Cant wait to be driving again. I guess it will be at least a month or so.
Hey GS, whereabouts do you work in Corona?? That is where I live. Do you commute to work in the mav>??
I work at a dealership in the Corona Auto Center off of Serfas Club Drive. I commute from Pasadena(about an hour)& drive the Mav to work about once a week. I'm leaving Thursday For the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca for Ford's 100th Anniversery. I'm taking the Mav on this 7 hour run up the coast with the West Coast Boss 302 owners.
Damn GS, thats 10 seconds from my house!! We bought our turbo jetta from the dealer off of serfas. Perhaps we could meet up some time, etc. edit: I would REALLY love to meet up, I just read your profile, and your car is the same year as mine, but has the efi. I would love to check out that setup since I have a HO engine going in and have not decided on the fuel injection yet.
Email me when I get back from Monterey & maybe we cordinate you stopping buy on a day when I drive the Mav.
Jeremy, the shootout is at LACR right? If so and you wanna come I will make the short trip out there, just about 20 minutes from my house. Let me know. Jeri
