I got a really nice 1 wire alternator kit, now my problem is while removing the wiring tape I find all the wires are the same color. Looks like battery acid may have gotten on some of the insulation because some has melted away. What is puzzling is that the further I unwrap the tape they are all the same color red I`m thinking somebody has been into this before but I can find no splice and the tape wrap looks to be factory. Also there are 2 wires that go on the positive side of the solenoid what do they go to because 1 of these is broke off and I can`t find an end I`m sure I`m not being very clear about all this but if somebody has a diaghram please help because wiring is not my strong suit. Thanks for any and all input.
Use hand cleaner to clean the wires. The factory used wide tape to wrap the harness and it's not sticky. If your tape is 3/4" wide and sticky then its been re-wrapped. Battery acid will not change the color of the wires. Wiring diagrams--- http://www.1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/chassis_electrical_05.html
