hey, I have read all the threads about replacing maverick seats with newer bucket seats out of different cars, but none of them really talk about replacing the back seat. I was wishing to be able to replace the back seat along with putting in bucket seats, so does anyone know what type of cars have back seats that would fit in the maverick? or if anyone has already done a back seat transplant, with specs, pics or any other useful info?

i used front seats out of a 97 grand am gt, got the back seat (must be from a 2 door grand am 4 door has the fold down center) and stripped the cover off and recovered my original backseat i think it looks good. i have one pic, dont know if it will show what you need but you can see the front buckets.

I did the same thing as Orangemav, only using the seats out of a 96' Sunfire. The back seats were pretty close to the same size. I simply skinned the Pontiac back seat for it's cover and put it over my stock Maverick frame. The lower cushion was a bit more challenging. I had to take a level of springing out of the Mav seat due to the thickness of the Pontiac "bun" (the foam form, which on these seats is inseparable from the cloth). I'm not quite done but the results so far look very good. The top cushion was a breeze, and looks factory. The front seats require some fabrication of mounting brackets, as do most any swapped in non-stock seats, but are good looking and comfortable. Good luck. John B.

Hey Orangemav, do you really need both of those shifters to shift it? You must be an odd-looking fellow with three arms. :tiphat:

I know this is 3 years after some of the original posts but I just got a chance to get to this part of the forum.
