Well, it's been awhile since I posted, so I thought I'd give a quick update. The Shelby taillight panel I modified looked good--too good. Once I got the rear valance on, it gave me a better idea of what the whole picture looked like, and I wasn,t real hip. Too custom looking. I think a Shelby Mav would,ve been more of a subtle look than what I had achieved--so out came the taillight panel and about 2 days of work getting it to work in the first place. Then the real fun part was when I removed the vinyl top and foun a 3x8 inch hole in my roof. I always wanted a convertible, but come on. It took more than a couple beers to calm me down after that swell little revelation. but now, after a lot of work, and beers, and work, I,m getting satisfied with the outcome, and am still trying to meet my self imposed deadline to have it back on the road in time for the roundup nats.
Nope, didn't have the foresight to take pics. I was just so sure it would look right. Don't get me wrong, it looked good, just too custom for what I want. I used a 67 Shelby taillight panel(fiberglass of course) That I bought from Tony Branda. It took a lot of trimming and cutting to get it to fit. The hard partwas working with the concave panel on a flat Maverickk tail light panel(or what was left of it. Damn!
