Need to know which drum to disc brake swap for 71 Mav is the most economical and provides the best performance. Currently have 6 cylinder 4 lugs, planning on swapping rear out also as soon as I can locate one. I have only been on this board for a little while and everyones advice has been very helpful in making decisions on how to build my Mav. Thanks David:)

The best would be a complete setup from a 74-up Maverick or Comet. Granada's will also fit but you may have to change the outer tie rod ends

That's exactly what I'm doing right now with my blue car...hope to finish up tomorrow. I bought the cross drilled rotors off eBay and the rest from O'Reilly Auto Parts. About $240 total parts.

Easiest and most ecconomical swap is '74-'77 Maverick Discs. The spindles, calipers, and rotors on a Granada are no different whatsoever. You may have to change outter tie-rod ends regardless. For some reason, I did not have to do that on my '73 Maverick (used a '75 Maverick donor), but my friend's '73 Maverick (used a '75 Comet donor) did need the tie rods changed. Getting the front brake lines makes things go much easier as well...

when you change out the tie rods ends is that because the tapered bolt is not the same size as the one on the new spindle??

It's the same size but it is longer on some models, so the cotter pin does not fasten tightly against the castle nut when the disc brake spindle is used. You'll want the shorter bolt...

Sorry Andy, you have to have those from a donor car. Also the caliper brackets...everything else you can buy.
