Any opinions on the best sounding, best flowing muffler.I had a pair of Super Turbos on an 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 with off road pipes. Flowmaster seems kinda big when you go with a 50 series three chamber. The Dynomax bullet flows like gangbusters, but without cats on a Maverick, I think it might be way too loud.

    Any thoughts??

We will tell you this afternoon. Our car go's in for exhaust from headers back. We will have two flowmasters installed 2-1/2" in and out. Not sure if we will go all the way back, may just do turn downs after mufflers. Let you know about sound later today.

I used the Super44s from Flowmaster. Same design as the 50 series, but 4" thick instead of 5" so they tuck up a little better. They are a little louder and more aggressive sounding than the 50s.

Here is the pic AGAIN (I have posted this up here about 10 times now!:hmmm:)

Those are 2-1/2" pipes, so you can see how that muffler isn't much bigger that the pipe diameter. You cannot see the mufflers without getting under the car and looking.

I have the original 40 series and the interior resonance is ridiculous... but i dont seem to mind, the neighbors do though.

Ditto that set up. Exactly what i have even the noisy fuel pump. I plan on tail pipes though. The resonance is a bit much. This set up sets off car alarms. Thats fun. Used to get my buddy and his car alarm everyday at work when I drove the car out of the shop.:)

I agree, the interior resonance is bad at 2 ranges of RPMs, just a little off idle and somewhere around 3000. When driving, it is fine.

I have been lining all interior surfaces with jute, inside the rear quarters, under the carpet, inside the trunk, and once the car gets rid of it's "tin-can" feeling, it is much better.

Car alarms do go off. Usually because I gun it on purpose near them to make them go off, then I am outtathere :outtahere:

I have Hooker Aero-Chambers on my truck and love them. They sound better to me than the Flows. They are supposed to out flow the flows also according to the test done by Car Craft.

I have the Midas Ravin performance mufflers on mine. I love the sound at idle. And it really gets loud, when you nail it & the torque converter kicks in.... When cruising down the road they don't overpower the stereo... They're just right....
