Big or Small Bearing?

    1973 2dr Maverick 302c my other car got stolen!!
    i have a 73 mav with a 8 in rear end does that mean its a small berring?
    and a 9in is a big bearing? axels i guess? i dont know what they are realy talking about but i want to change my drum rear breaks to disk breaks is there some i can pull of some car at the junk yard that well work? or do i have to buy a conversion kit? i want to use the willwood break kits.. Thanks Marc-Anthony

    There are big and small bearings within the 8". Usually the 4 lug have the small and the 5 lug have the big.

    There are only 2 sizes of 8", tiny bearing(4 lug, pinto, bobcat, M2, etc) and small bearing(5 lug). The small 8" bearings are the same as the "mustang" 9" rears.


    the 9" on the other hand offers 4 or 5 different bearings. Somewhere on the 'net there is a chart that shows the differences, but I can't seem to find it.
